Low Sugar Winter Chai
The year seems to have flown by with all sorts of magic and delight.
When the fall first peaks I run to the kitchen for tea and enjoy several cups a day throughout the cooler seasons. Warm spiced teas do best with aiding me in balancing my vata dosha. I have naturally been drawn to these flavors for as long as I can remember and through more research I now have a better understanding as to why. I enjoy creating spice mixes with bulk herbs I order from Mountain Rose so I can create a few custom favorite mixes every couple weeks & enjoy something everyday.
- 1/2 tsp powdered vanilla bean
- 2 tablespoons licorice
- 5 teaspoons ground ginger
- 5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 3 teaspoon ground cloves
- 3 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried orange zest (optional)
- Add 1/2 – 1 teaspoon to your tea infuser & pour hot water over to steep 4 minutes.
Spicy Home Chai Blend
Add some honey to sweeten. If you prefer your chai with milk, I use almond or hemp milk.
2 Minute Almond Milk
1 tablespoon raw almond butter
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1.5 cup pure water
Place all ingredients in your blender & enjoy. Optionally strain through a nutmilk bag or cheesecloth.
