The Morning Hydration Trick
Thank you for joining us here on Detox Darling. Over the years I have found the fastest way for people to increase energy and reduce cravings is hydration. During the day we often forget to drink as much water as our bodies desire to optimally release the toxins in our cells. I know I was scared of increasing my water intake dramatically would send me to the bathroom every half hour and be more of a frustration than a benefit. But once I began this pattern of water intake, my body learned to utilize the water better and after only a week, my ‘schedule’ was back to normal.
So let’s get down to it. Our goal here is going to be about 4 quarts of water per day. Not all at once, but gradually increasing our daily intake will train our bodies to use this very affordable detoxification tool.
Drink lots of water in the morning, preferably warm! Warm water flushes out the kidneys, prepares the stomach for food by stimulating the glands on its walls, and helps the bowels move regularly and naturally. But if you’re trying to hold out hunger, drink cold water instead!
And beginning your day with 20oz slowly increasing to 32oz warm (not hot) water. This will rehydrate your from all those hours sleeping, during which your body was busy digesting, detoxifying and from the previous day & now flushing it all out. Plus, when you start your day hydrated, you are less likely to reach for an unhealthy breakfast. Often our thirst reception is confusing and we think we are hungry when a glass of water would really do the trick! So throughout the day, carry a water bottle with you, I love my pink Takeya because it is glass and I know that it is not leaching any toxins that a plastic bottle could. Every hour or so, I check my water bottle to see that I have drank another 8-10 ounces and by the middle of the afternoon. Our bodies are built to store water and use it when needed, if you are worried about bloating… fear not. After a couple of days your body will quickly discover that it no longer needs to ‘store’ water as it will be readily consumed. This is when the true cleansing begins and many notice a decrease in morning (sweet carb) hunger and find increased energy without caffeine!
